The Dark Side of John Garang Family: A history being erased by a mother and her son. Coming up soon. In African cultures, Young heirs from most well known families constitute a significant part of the leadership and respect. They are brought up to be the next inline to led the communities and countries after they grown up or if anything happen to their relatives in power. With this in mind, there was a hope within my generation that John Garang older son would make it to the top leadership to fulfill the family history and to keep good names of his father on the right side of the history. However, the history of John Garang family is now full with twist and with different interest as the politics goes. Without Garang to keep the family on his side. The mother and the son made their mind and took a turn that will be deemed as a wrong pass. A pass that will erased the good history of John Garang, if not well articulated by his family. One would be wondering why would a well known and most respected family joined Riek Machar second rebellion? A man whom the history layout as an out-cast of the Nuer community and South Sudan in particular. Why would the mother and the son left the glorious history of John Garang to president Kiir who inherit the leadership after the mysterious death? These are the questions that need to be explored to find better understanding of John Garang family history. Also, we need to know why Garang son become stumbling block at the IGAD peace process. We need to know what the future hold for him, because majority of us are Fan of John Garang. What the Garang family history mean to us as a community and South Sudanese at large? As one of John Garang students whom he taught A to Z when he visited Jesh El Amer in Pinydu in 1988. I love to dig into why his family joined Riek rather than president Kiir who stood with John Garang throughout the struggle of South Sudanese against the brutal regime in Khortoum. Be a judge and all ideas are welcome.
