The Dell, Archers Road 1981 The Dell was built in 1898 on land that had previously been part of the Banister Court estate. It was created by filling in what had literally been a dell. In spite of sporadic modernisation it has been acknowledged since the 1970s that the ground was too small and its facilities inadequate for a top flight club. Eventually, a new site in Northam was acquired and work began on a new stadium in the year 2000. The club is due to move into its new Friends Provident St Marys Stadium in the summer of 2001.
