The Democrats Have finally decided to take it to the Koch Brothers where it hurts, attacking them, their nasty industries and the shadowy groups they front. I for one can vouch for having performed consulting work in several of their toxic industries in the past. These men not only have failed to heed the lessons that they learned at their daddys knee and that is to maintain a low political profile. But evidently, they also have failed to learn the lessons of history. Old man John D. Rockefeller went down that road in the late 19th Century, using his enormous wealth to intimidate, threaten and punish and destroy anyone who stood in his way or just because someone might have disagreed with him. It finally set off a global and nationwide public backlash against the Rockefeller family, with caricatures of old John D. resembling an octopus, gobbling up everything in sight. Many other caricatures such as a giant Shark, the biblical character, Golieth, etc. The attacks were so unrelenting and lasted for more than a decade. They were so unrelenting, so fierce that the old man began to develop digestive and circulatory problems which finally drove him into retirement. It took his sons, led by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. decades of divestitures of Rockefeller wealth through the establishment of grants, public trusts, foundations, humanitarian causes around the world and even the construction of Rockefeller Center in N.Y.C. before they could finally recover the reputation that the old man had lost. Subsequent Rockefeller off-springs dedicated their lives to public service and politics, while grandson David Rockefeller quietly carried on in the dimished family business. The Kochs seem to believe that they can use their tremendous financial wealth, earned through the largesse of an America, made safe through the blood of others, to bully America in the narrow ideological direction that they would like us to go. They believe that their wealth can buy the kind of government they want. Those who fail to learn from history are bound to repeat it.
