The Environment Protection Authority’s (EPA) North Branch - TopicsExpress

The Environment Protection Authority’s (EPA) North Branch Director is Gary Davey. Gary Davey is responsible for EPA’s environment protection operational activities in the northern half of NSW (excluding metropolitan Sydney) across air, water, noise, odour, incident response, development assessment and strategic planning associated with environment protection. [And is] Also responsible for the managing [of] EPA’s regulatory programs for coal, and coal seam gas. Ref. 1 In September, 2002, the EPA’s Gary Davey was Director Northern of the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). At that time, on the direction of the then Minister for the Environment, Bob Debus, he responded to a letter from a knowledgeable Bulahdelah resident who had grave concerns about Bulahdelah (the Alum) Mountain being used for a highway route. One of those concerns was the alum dust which would be created during construction. Gary Davey wrote: The term ”alum” has been loosely applied to a range of materials used in water treatment and is a manufactured chemical and does not occur naturally. Ref. 2 The Alum Mountain is the nickname for the mountain on which the township of Bulahdelah is built. This is because it is a mountain of alum stone (synonyms are alunite and alum), the largest deposit of alum stone in the southern hemisphere. The entire township of Bulahdelah and far beyond has now been exposed to noxious substances which include (but are not limited to) acid sulphate rock dust and the listed hazardous substance silica dust. Asbestos-like silica dust is a Group 1 human carcinogen and the only cause of silicosis. Silicosis is terminal. People who die of silicosis drown in their own blood. youtube/watch?v=x9rLzy_plU8 References:- 1. environment.nsw.gov.au/resources/epa/EPAExecOrgChart.pdf 2. bulahdelahbypass.wordpress/k-scans-of-documents/
