The Filipino is worth fighting for... Indeed the Filipino is. It is because the Filipino is worth fighting for that we expect so much of our leaders. It is because the Filipino is worth fighting for that as a citizen, I have never considered apathy or mediocrity as options. I have never really doubted that the President means well and that he doesnt himself indulge in corruption. And I personally really felt that today. I think that any Filipino wishing to see his or her President fail, knows not what he or she is asking for. So in these last two years, for the sake of country alone, I sincerely wish the President well. I really do wish those who can, are able to assist him in these last crucial moments -- that they be listened to, that they too deliver. And those who cant, well, for sake of country, get out of the way. I acknowledge the gargantuan tasks that those in government take on. Having personally worked in government myself, having had the honor of working with several great government leaders in the past and knowing some of the most effective, ethical and empowering leaders we now have quite well, I know how difficult it is to keep fighting the good fight. So, while I acknowledge the gains we have as a country attained, I continue to be mindful of those still not in the horizon and while i do not intend to abandon the fight, i just wish we have less of the arrogance of the righteous and the air of having a monopoly of goodness. Less of ad hominem attacks or even those that appeal only to emotion or irrationality. We need to rally the people to come together as the fight is definitely far from over. And no, i will not apologize for expecting more, for demanding more -- for demanding for the #PeoplesFOINow, social justice, real inclusive growth, institutional, political and electoral reform, a clear blueprint for sustained, sustainable and inclusive economic progress and development, accountability and transparency regardless of political color, ribbon or pin, a more inclusive democracy and a more responsive, efficient, effective and accessible bureaucracy. Precisely because the Filipino and our #PerlasngSilangan is worth fighting for will i refuse to be apathetic and accept mediocrity from myself and moreso from those who take on positions of leadership in this country of mine. #Sona2014
