The Full Tummy Project is seeking assistance. This project is dedicated to ending childhood hunger in Athens and Limestone County. This project serves over 100 children in the Athens City Schools. One organizer said, We believe that no child should ever go hungry. Yet many children who depend on school provided meals have little or no access to nutritious foods on weekends and during school breaks. Full Tummy Project provides small bags of food on Fridays for children in our local schools who have been identified by school administrators as at risk for hunger. The food in these weekend meal bags helps these children return to school on Monday ready to learn. Want to know how you can help? We need donations of food and/or money in order to fill the 876 backpacks that have not been sponsored for the rest of this school year. Additionally we need local businesses who are willing to let us set up a drop point for donations. We have scheduled 2 Pack and Pray Days: Saturday, February 22 @ 9:00 am- Goal is 500 bags Saturday, May 3 @ 9:00 am- Goal is 750 bags. Call (256) 232-4906 for more information.
