The Good I See In You, Ol Lord... poem & photo by Dianne Cogar © The good I see in You- your heart always speaks volumes I have applied some of your examples with good results I only wish I had gotten to know you sooner Your pureness attracts more attention than any other I have known You model love, kindness, wisdom and assured hope You come in the night when I am lonely- soothing and nurturing You lift my spirits when my heart is in a state of melancholy You gently nudge me when I lack direction or confidence The good I see in You- your heart always speaks volumes You explain my errors with determination to prevent future errors You leave me feeling positive, loved, important, and hopeful You come in my prayers, watchful and understanding of my needs The good I see in You- your heart always speaks volumes Promising that treasures are ours up in heaven Where nothing can destroy where our hearts will be No thief can enter our immaterial essence and steal The good I see in You- Enables me to love others deeply with my heart Enables me to be in accordance with what is just or moral Enables me to carry the burden of a friend just as You would Enables me to trust in and be a believer in Your teachings The good I see in You- your heart always speaks volumes I have applied some of your examples with good results I will continue to better myself for the sake of spreading peace I will practice patience in hopes to overlook misdeeds and insult The good I see in You- shows no divisions in mankind I have applied some of your examples with good results I hold You in the highest regard because of your teachings I feel Your unfailing love as you surround my life with your good The good I see you You, Ol Lord- Gives me the power, the capacity, the ability to love Gives me reason, understanding, hope, and need... To follow your footsteps and be more like You
