The Gospel: Assumed or Explicit Assumed: Too personal and - TopicsExpress

The Gospel: Assumed or Explicit Assumed: Too personal and becomes private. You know how it relates to your life, but nobody else does. No one sees how the gospel affects family, decisions, arguments, finances, etc. Neighbors never hear of the hope within. Coworkers wonder about what makes them different. Living under the assumed gospel finds it awkward to bring up and talk about the work of Christ. They never learn to articulate Christ’s atoning work and their life. Explicit: Live out the gospel, speak about it, and work through it, which connects the dots to those around them. Their kids hear how the gospel relates to family finances, issues, etc., their neighbors hear about the hope within. Coworkers are privy this isn’t just a moral person, but one who lives out transformation through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Oftentimes, where the gospel is assumed, it is quickly lost. -Josh Patterson, “The Explicit Gospel”
