The Government is revisiting the statistical data of Indian - TopicsExpress

The Government is revisiting the statistical data of Indian economic development. Earlier it was said that because of the slowdown, the GDP will be around 5 per cent. Now the PMO has revisited the index of industrial production and they said it is about 26 per cent. Therefore, the growth rate is being revised upwardly to 7 per cent. On the question of average life expectancy of the common people, earlier it was 65 years. Now they are calculating it to be 67 years and they are attributing it on the all round economic growth and better human development. This is quite surprising. Just a few months before the election, the statistical data is being revisited and a picture of glorious economic development is being painted. This is all a political game. It is unfortunate that to reap benefits, statistical data are being manipulated. It speaks of sham mockery of the credibility of statistical data for political benefit. Even the statistical data is being manipulated. I do not know where in the world these things take place. When the economic slowdown is so palpable, life of the people is so miserable, how does the government claim reversal of the trend and 7 per cent economic growth and 65 years of life expectancy which is a white lie?
