The Government must Ban Poker Machines in PNG Fathoming the pros and cons of the Poker Machines industry in the country led me to conclude that it is disastrous to our nation. I am taking this opportunity to raise the alarm as I feel for the far too many people that are indulging in this destructive industry. Indulgence on Poker machines is indeed a major cause of family violence, corruption, procrastination, conning and the list goes on. Thus, the disadvantages of the Pokies Machine industry far outweigh its advantages. The disadvantages emanates as a direct result of Poker Machines addicts’ uncontrollable attitude of fiddling with the machine. It’s quite evidently seen that once people are addicted to Poker Machines their vulnerability to play to the last kina is high; hence, indulgence in Poker machines has led many people to bankruptcy. The one notable disadvantage of Poker Machines I am compelled to mention here for obvious reasons is the stimulating of Corruption by it. The susceptibility for many Poker Machines addicts, especially public servants to resort to corrupt deals to defraud individuals and organizations is high as their wages or incomes cannot sustain their regularity and appetite in gambling heavily. It is obvious that bureaucrats, parliamentarians, people in business and others strike corrupt deals left right and center at poker Machine places to use some of the proceeds to keep them going in the game they love. Poker cause grassroots people to ones who are in the highest echelons of organizations to involve in corruption. The other disadvantages of poker Machines are also playing their part to have a catastrophic effect on the society. Let us support get rid of this Gambling Avenue (Evil) as PNG is not ready for such.
