The Heat Goes On...Borrowing a line from a Sonny & Cher song (The Beat goes on...),..August usually finds the worst of Summers heat. It seems to linger on & on into the first 15-20 days of September. This year we really havent had that long stretch of brutal (95+) heat except for the rest of this week. An upper ridge is building slowly eastward out of the Plains and it should limit our daily shower coverage to 20% or less. That should result in near record (97) heat for the next 4-5 days. There is some signs of the East Coast trough returning next week & that would increase our rain chances bringing some heat relief. 2 Hurricanes are heading towards Hawaii, but both should weaken before they get there. The Pacific is where all the tropical activity is as the Atlantic has gone quiet after Bertha earlier this week. Stay tuned! Bob Breck
