The Hippie movement of the late 60s and early 70s holds the distinction as being one of the most influential periods in the way that people viewed life and the world around them. They adopted ideas and philosophies that were completely alien to the older generation at the time. They forced people to start noticing the damage we were doing to the environment, they recognized the importance of equal rights and they spoke out against a war that was obviously immoral and wrong. They formed intentional communities where groups of them live together in an environment of respect, cooperation and loving kindness. These young people were looked upon as drop outs, anti social and anti-establishment. But I am sure they viewed themselves in quite a different way, they saw a chance to possibly make a change in the world and they were willing to do whatever it took to make it happen including marches, protests and sit-ins. Now I know that I was too young to be witness to any of this, but I feel that I paint a pretty accurate picture of the time. I think the most exciting feeling is, that if we were to remove the first line of this paragraph and replace it with the young people in the early part of the 21st century, it would all still fit perfectly. We are in the midst of another social movement that has the capability of massive change. More and more people have tapped into their higher consciousness realizing that the time for peace and cooperation has been long overdue in a world that has known far to much war and greed. They have taken on the role of activist in order to show the rest of the world that only by a combined effort can we stop the cycle of destruction that previous generations have put us on. But if any of this is to work, it can not be accomplished only by the twenty somethings of the world. We must open the eyes of the older people and convince them that the lies that they have been fed for all these years can no longer be believed. We must educate our children to not put so much emphasis on technology and more on human contact and personal relationships. Only by working arm in arm and heart to heart can we finish the job that so many started so long ago. People for Peace!! Blessings and Love to you all. ~ GURU BUBBA McLOVIN
