The IWA (Eichorn)-Chapter 1: TV Show Rosters For the past couple of months I have worked on discovering all I can about the short-lived IWA that lasted 1975-1977. I will release hints of what I have found as I put all the pieces together. The IWA had many groundbreaking ideas including some that put it as the most advanced Pro Wrestling TV show found anywhere in the world. They were the first to use “stop-action/freeze frame” and also instant replay. This definitely caught the couch-potatoes’ eye as something special. There is much information to be found on the initial TV taping in Savannah, Georgia on January 6 in 1975. It was in theory a concept and roster that owners and fans alike could easily be excited about. Territory bosses Vince McMahon and Jim Crockett would soon put in motion steps to halt the imposing army of an all star roster into their coveted soil. I do not believe it would be any stretch of anyone’s imagination to say that at the end of the first TV shows being captured on film, that conservative enthusiasm reigned high. This was even after some prominent no shows that I still have not got to the bottom of yet. There were follow-up TV tapings in North Carolina, which there is much evidence supporting them also. (More to appear about the NC and Ga tapings in another chapter.) However, I have recently read where there were TV tapings for the NY market that I am still tracking like a bloodhound. Whatever I find will be disclosed at a later date. The purpose of this chapter is to talk about the 18 shows that there is no doubt that appeared on the many TV stations. Some say there were many more than 18 that appeared on TV. This writer remembers seeing these all star roster filled shows, and seeing them be repeated over and again. In fact, many of these same tv shows were being seen overseas even into the 80’s, followed up by at least 2 of the stars and a local cast of wrestlers appearing to draw a paycheck. I have seen only 18 TV shows that were broadcast and even made available to purchase. The following stars and enhancement members were seen on these 18.
