The Jammu and Kashmir government would hold the annual exams for matriculation and standard 12th students in the first week of November, a government spokesman said on Friday. The Annual exams for the classes Ist, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 11th in Kashmir Valley will be conducted in the last week of October, 2014. The exams for classes 10th and 12th which are being conducted by the State Board of Education will be conducted in the first week of November, 2014, he said. He said the decision was taken at a high- level meeting chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, here today. While taking review of educational activities in the Kashmir Valley in the aftermath of floods, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned officers to make elaborate arrangements for smooth conduct of these examinations and issue necessary date sheets for the information of students. The Deputy Chief Minister also directed all the Chief Education Officers to ensure regular classes in all the schools, especially which affected by floods. He also called for ensuring safety of students while entering in the flood hit buildings, adding that such buildings must be inspected by the PWD authorities as has been decided by the Government. Chand also directed the Director School Education, Kashmir to ensure proper sanitation, safe drinking water and adequate medical facilities in all the schools of the Valley. He also issued instructions to the BOSE authorities to take immediate steps for the availability of text books for the new classes in time. Meanwhile, while taking serious note of the absence of Chief Education Officers, Kupwara and Kulgam in today’s meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the Director School Education to call for their explanation.
