The Journey: Bench 65 Deuteronomy 2:2-3 And the Lord spake - TopicsExpress

The Journey: Bench 65 Deuteronomy 2:2-3 And the Lord spake unto me saying, Ye have compassed this mountain long enough; turn you northward. Today we move forward about 38 years. The generation that rebelled at Kadesh-barma has died in the wilderness and a new generation is about to go in an possess the land of Canaan. This new generation needed to have the Law interpreted for them in light of their thirty-eight experience in the wilderness. In Deuteronomy, Moses gives this new generation his final instructions from the Lord before his death. In our text verse today Moses reminds them they have compassed this mountain long enough. Thirty-eight years of going round and round this mountain just burying the dead is long enough. It is time to move forward and possess Gods promise to them. As we meditate on this today, may we take a moment to ask ourselves, What mountain have I compassed long enough? Maybe it is Mt. Unforgiveness, or Mt. Resentment, or Mt. Missed Opportunities, or Mt. Past Failures, or Mt. Debt, or a multitude of mountains individual to you. Today, may we hear God say to us, You have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward. Remember, on a compass, north is always up. So, look UP, and get moving in a new direction, the direction of Gods promise. Lord, I choose to look up and move into Your promises, instead of just wandering around this mountain any longer. Amen.
