The Lions Club of Canberra Kambah is participating in the ‘Lions Recycle for Sight Program’, an initiative that collects unused spectacles so they can be reconditioned and sent to help visually impaired people in poor communities. The renovated eyewear will be shipped to communities in Africa, Asia and the Pacific. The World Health Organisation estimates around 153 million people suffer from nearsightedness and other diseases which can often be treated with corrective lenses. It’s a fantastic initiative that I’m pleased to support. People can support the Kambah Lions by dropping off disused eyewear at: • My electorate office: 11 London Circuit, Canberra City. • OPSM stores in the Tuggeranong Hyperdome. • Specsavers Woden at Woden Plaza. • Or call 02 6294 3399 for bulk collections.
