The Loma Prieta quake was 24 years ago today. The eastern span of the Bay Bridge opened last month marking how long it took to fix some of the damage from the earthquake. However, good things have come out of that tragic day. We now have a wonderful esplanade along the Embarcadero - the view used to be blocked by a monstrous raised concrete freeway. The south of Market area is one of the most expensive places to live because of the view.
