The Miami City Cemetery is the first in the City of Miami and is about 10 acres . It holds the remains of all walks of life . This week is the 63 rd anniversary of the Korean War, ( 1950 - 1953 ) . Here lies in this special cemetery the remains of at least 15 Black Soldiers and many were from Booker T. Washington High . You have to remember how small Miami and Dade County was at the time . And this was a small southern town at the time . Here are some of the names of these young Brave Men . Henry Berrien KIA 9/1/51 , Willie Lee Anderson ( medic ) died of wounds treating a wounded 10/25/51 , Edbridge Gibson KIA 11/24/51 , Richard Shefford 12 /1951 , Clifford Evan 10/3/51 ,Raymond Marlier U.S. Navy 11/30/52 , Willie Drake KIA 8/4/53 , RUFUS Delancy KIA 7/6/53 , Freddie Leon Culmer died at a mash unit 7/5/53 , Robert Dean 7/18/53 , Person Fleming 8/23/53 , 1 st LT. Melvin Reid Jackson KIA 7/18/52 , and two boyhood friends who lived across the street from each other Prince Albert Simms 9/24/52 and Alexander Clark Sr. KIA 10/7/52 . Please just remember these young Brave men for a moment and the hard times these men went through and one more thing is we are still only in 60 year long truce the War never ended , and look at North Korea today .
