The Minesweeping Team is pleased to issue an Invitation to a talk of Dr. Rosalie Metro : Can people create an unbiased history curriculum that tells the truth about Myanmar? on Saturday, 13th July, 10 a.m. at the YMCA (Maha Bandoola Str.) followed by a discussion concentrating on the relationship of Truth and Trust in Myanmar -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rosalie Metro is a teacher, independent scholar, and educational consultant based in the USA. She hold a Ph.D. in Learning, Teaching, and Social Policy from Cornell University, an M.A. in Education from Goddard College, and a B.A. in History from Reed College. In 2011, she completed her dissertation at Cornell, "History Curricula and the Reconciliation of Ethnic Conflict: A Collaborative Project with Burmese Migrants and Refugees in Thailand.” Since 2000, she has visited the Thai-Burma border yearly, collaborating with educators in both countries, providing teacher training, and conducting research. She co-wrote Histories of Burma, a primary source-based textbook designed to promote reconciliation among students of varied ethnicities and backgrounds from Burma/Myanmar. Currently, she teaches history to 8th graders at Columbia Independent School in Columbia/Missouri. She also volunteers with refugees from Burma/Myanmar living in her community and does Burmese interpreting for Columbia Public Schools in her town where she lives with her husband and daughter.
