The Montreal International Jazz Festival celebrates its 35th anniversary this summer and today they announced their free outdoor concerts! Hundreds of artists - from Diana Krall, Woodkid, Vintage Trouble and Deltron 3030 to chamber jazz for the wild west with Rob Moshers Polebridge, Balkan Gypsy Party - give free Jazz Festival concerts. The worlds largest jazz festival takes place June 26 - July 6, 2014 from noon - midnight with 1,000 concerts and activities - 2/3 of which are free -on 9 outdoor stages and 10 concert halls in a car-free area in the heart of downtown Montreal. Over 3,000 musicians and public entertainers from 30 countries participate. Its a family-friendly event with special kids performances, percussion workshops, a musical park with a walk-on playing keyboard, saxophone slide, face painting and much more. As NPR Music says: Anyone whos ever been to the Montreal International Jazz Fest knows theres nothing quite like it in North America. And DownBeat Magazines Frank Alkyer writes: With more than 800 acts presented over 10 days, Montreal is a joyous blur, a mad dash from concert to concert and a glimpse at some of the best live acts in jazz today. Indoor, ticketed concerts, which were announced April 23, include more than 200 shows including Diana Ross, Keith Jarrett, Michael Bublé, Terence Blanchard, Rufus Wainwright, Trombone Shorty, Beck, Marcus Miller, Bobby McFerrin, Jack DeJohnette, Earth, Wind & Fire, Tony Bennett, Ben Harper, Ginger Baker, Tord Gustavsen, Stacey Kent, Brad Mehldau, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Tom Harrell, Keith Jarrett solo, Oliver Jones, Cassandra Wilson and more.
