The NFL season opens this weekend, generating huge revenues for the league and once again making us wonder: why are the NFL and other pro sports associations allowed to avoid paying taxes as nonprofits? The teams are privately owned and taxed, but the NFL itself isnt. Maybe thats how they could afford to pay NFL commissioner Roger Goodell $44 million+ in 2012, and for their Park Avenue office in New York.
