The NSW Planning Assessment Commission (PAC) has approved the redevelopment of the Eastlakes Shopping Centre. This is a disappointing outcome but it was pleasing to see that the Commission has taken into account some of our concerns. Council has always seen the redevelopment of Eastlakes as an opportunity to set new benchmarks and to rethink how the public domain and private, public and pedestrian transport linkages work. Approving this development in its current form is sadly a lost opportunity. I will now sit down with council staff and go through the determination and look at how council can continue to work towards a better outcome for residents.
