The National Library of Scotland has digitized the Broadsides in their collection and made them available on their site. These are one sheet news releases which capture the important news of the day. They would have been distributed in the market areas or on the high streets in the citites and towns. They show the scandals of the day and give a terrific insight to the things that were taking place during the lives of our ancestors. They are rich in history and social history. They would have cost a penny or a hapenny. They are often filled with names and can be a useful genealogy resource.
