The Notice was placed in the Modesto Bee and appeard on Friday March 14th, the same day the papers were filed with the city Clerk. We will need your help in getting signatures. We will announce signature event dates here on this page. Keep informed check here often. We can also use anyone that is willing to help collect signatures. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CIRCULATE RECALL PETITION TO THE HONORABLE David Cogdill Jr: Pursuant to Section 11020, California Election Code, the undersigned registered qualified voters of District 6, Modesto City, in the State of California, hereby give notice that we are the proponents of a recall petition and that we intend to seek your recall and removal from the office of City Councilperson, in District 6 of Modesto, California, and to demand election of a successor in that office. Councilperson Cogdill has ignored the wishes of district 6 voters by approving the building of the Naraghi Lakes shopping center. This was done against the wishes of the community, and has now resulted in a lawsuit against the City of Modesto. Councilperson Cogdill has voted numerous times approving actions to bring the Salida community into the City of Modesto’s ‘Sphere Of Influence’. During a time of budgetary crisis these actions constitute a misuse of taxpayer funds. In addition, on or about January 28, Councilperson Cogdill voted to begin the process of bringing the Wood Colony community into the City of Modesto’s ‘Sphere Of Influence’. This vote included an allocation of $75,000 in taxpayer money. Councilperson Cogdill’s occupation as a real estate land appraiser, and his association with the California Building Industry Association is a conflict of interest. On or about January 28, the Council had an agenda item to forgive $8.5 million in fines to the Seneca Corp. Meanwhile public safety budget items are being reduced, and taxpayer money is being spent on long-term City land planning and zoning. Councilmember Cogdill is not representing the current needs of District 6 or the City of Modesto. John P. Walker, Susanne Courtroul, Michael Courtroul, Jessica Walker, Raymond Chavarria, Anthony S. Hatt, Tina Gonzales, Jay Willis, Steve Hunting, Keith Askew, Douglas Miller, Melanie Miller. A copy of this notice and proof of service will be filed with the City Clerk pursuant to California Elections Code section 11023. You may file an answer to the statement of the proponents with the City Clerk within 7 days after the notice is filed. It may not be more than 200 words. If an answer is filed, a copy must also be served personally or by certified mail within that same 7-day period on one of the above proponents. The answer shall be signed and shall be accompanied by the printed name and business or residence address of the officer sought to be recalled.
