The PA movement needs to grow so money must not be an barrier to joining. Money is needed & we thought in Kent PA that the best way was to get it from registered local PAs with the amount dependent upon number of members registered. Now this is where the old style thinking cant comprehend the new way of doing things. The IOPS website is a good example of how you do things in terms of members. By registering on the website you are allocated to the nearest city/town. By doing so you are agreeing to the core principles, just four of them. For the PA movement it would be a similar commitment to core principles. From the website you can see who registered locally, whats going on locally & you can post articles locally, at county level, nationally or internationally as well as engage in forums, projects & vote in polls. A local admin, county admin, national admin & international admin can remove anything inappropriate or remove people from membership. IOPS is a group of 3,500 registered members, not once to my knowledge has anything had to be removed or anyone banned. There is no need for a membership secretary or members list, its all done through the website. The polling on-line enables all to participate, but doesnt mean theres no need for any meetings, it just helps facilitate them & makes people feel part of something, making the decisions themselves rather than top-down rubber stamping. Its the real socialist tradition in the spirit of the Paris Commune. Todays revolutionaries, whether in CF of the SWP havent really grasped it. But I keep on plugging away, simply because I see it as essential to actually realising socialism.
