The Panthers started off their season with a 3-2 victory over the Union Beach Rockets thanks to a goal from Javier Bennett and a brace from Joe Romero. The Rockets started brighter and had plenty of possession in our half of the field before Javier broke up one of their attacks and burst straight through the middle of the park to give his team the lead in the eight minute. That was the only goal of a very entertaining first that saw both sides giving as much as they got. The Rockets raced into a 2-1 lead early in the second half. Joe pulled the Panthers level on 33 minutes when Oswald Russell found him in space out on the right hand side. With plenty of work still to do Joe easily got by two defenders before cutting inside and finding the bottom right of the net. He got the winner one minute from time with a similar effort to get the Panthers off to a winning start. Brandon Success, Nicholas Success, Caleb Daley, Shelby Lassitter, Julian Samson and Amber Greene all gave their all in a wonderful display on the day. Jahzara Coore, Jordan Roachford, Giovanny St. Jean and Michah Romain were not at todays game. The Panthers next game is 9/21 at South Brunswick SC against their U9 Cosmos team at 2:30 PM.
