The Peace in Football I believe in the peace in football. Now I - TopicsExpress

The Peace in Football I believe in the peace in football. Now I bet your thinking, how can there be peace in football? It is considered one of the most physically and mentally brutal sports in the world. But to me, it’s all peaceful. For forty-eight minutes, the group of fifty-some young men sitting in that locker room with you becomes your family. It doesn’t matter what is going on outside those white lines, you have football. I believe in the tapping of cleats, the breaking of tape, and the booming beats coming from people’s headphones. I believe in silence of a pre-game prayer. I believe in the love of the game. To me, peace isn’t a sunset, it is believing in something you love. Football isn’t about anger and pent-up rage; it is about you and the family that football creates. No other sport can teach you what football does. It teaches maturity, brotherhood, and togetherness. No matter what you feel towards the person next to you, during those forty-eight minutes, he is your brother. Hate and jealousy don’t matter. Football requires love, love for the game and love for the life you have been given. I believe that football is the greatest sport in the world. Football isn’t just a game; it is a way of life. High school football though, may be the greatest brotherhood of all. No matter your skill, you are one of the many brothers. Tears are shed and blood is bled. For those five months during the season, this is your family. On Friday night, under the lights of a stadium, football truly comes alive. Fans turn out in hordes to cheer on their brothers, sons, boyfriends, or just the guy that sits next to you in math class. That is the true love for football that exists. Although fans are great, during those precious minutes on Friday nights, they along with the rest of your life, do not matter. What matters is you, and your family huddled around you. Screaming coaches, yelling fans, and cheering squads take a back seat to the love and peace in football for forty-eight minutes. I encourage every person that reads this to think about that for a little bit. Football isn’t about hitting and tackling, but it is truly about peace and love. As long as you can walk on the field with the love for the game, and leave with the peace in knowing that you gave everything you had, you cannot fail. As Friday Night Lights coach Eric Taylor once said, “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose! An article I read from the Colorado Newspaper online....just wanted to share! Good night and make sure you have your players drinking lots and lots of H20!
