The People’s Parliament (Durham) is holding an event to be held on Tuesday 3rd September 2013 at County Hall. The event will start at 9.30am and will finish at 12.30pm. The event is aimed at carers and people who have learning disabilities who live in County Durham. It will promote the new benefit called Personal Independence Payment currently aimed to replace the Disability Living Allowance. The day will include a talk from the County Durham Welfare Rights Service about the new benefit replacing the Disability Living Allowance .There will be also be a wide range of stalls and display stands to promote education, training, careers, housing, health, (including the new County Durham consumer Healthwatch), arts and leisure, to provide information for people with learning disabilities, their families and carers. This is a free event and refreshments will be provided. We encourage people with learning disabilities and their carers from across County Durham to attend this very important event.
