The Philadelphia Foundation is offering an exciting internship opportunity to work in the communications department, helping manage the logistics leading up to, during, and immediately following Giving Tuesday on December 2nd, 2014. The internship will run from the end of August to the beginning of December. What is #GivingTuesday exactly? Its a national movement during the holidays dedicated to charitable giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are synonymous with holiday shopping. The goal of #GivingTuesday is to encourage people everywhere including retailers, charities, online organizations, community centers, individuals and families to come together with one common purpose -- to help others and incentivize ways to give more, give smarter, and celebrate the great American spirit of generosity through charitable contributions and volunteerism. The Giving Tuesday intern will work closely with the Professional Advisor Associate and with the Communications department, focusing on areas of interest as listed below: -Event planning: Support the planning, execution and post-event evaluation for 2 Giving Tuesday events. -Database Management: Track and manage business partnership data, serve as a liaison between partner businesses and nonprofits. -Social media: Monitor news relevant to giving Tuesday, attend Giving Tuesday Events and programs, and generate timely and compelling content for The Philadelphia Foundations Facebook page and other publications. The intern will participate in team and project-specific meetings. They will additionally provide support to the communications team on additional projects based on the interns skills and interests. The position offers flexible hours, Monday through Friday, primarily between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Qualifications: Strong interest in non-profit management and development Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as a team player and to take initiative Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at one time Hours: This position offers flexible hours, Monday through Friday, primarily between 9a.m. and 5 p.m., 3-6 hrs per week Location: The Philadelphia Foundation, 1234 Market Street Philadelphia PA 19130 Compensation: This position is unpaid but can be structured for the purposes of graduate program credit.
