The Philadelphia PCC car 2743 restoration repainting project has been started! The car has been moved from Rockhill Furnace, to Boonton, NJ and arrived there on Friday October 3. Two different crews of volunteers helped with the move. One crew worked in Rockhill Furnace on Thursday October 2 loading the car and securing it for the trip and a different unloading crew arrived in Boonton, around 7:15 AM Friday morning with the car already there. While we have the funding to get the contract work completed, we’re still looking for donations for the transportation portion of the project. Once the body work, repainting and other details are completed, we certainly want to get it back to Rockhill Furnace. It could be back in 2014 yet, but definitely in early 2015. Donations of any amount, small or large will be appreciated. Getting this project completed will give the museum another great looking operating car for service, restored in a historic color scheme the car had in revenue service.
