The Pope John Paul II Award Ceremony The first Pope John Paul II Award Ceremony for the Diocese of Cloyne will take place this Wednesday 23rd October at 7pm in Mallow Community Youth Centre. The Pope John Paul II Award was created to commemorate the late Pope John Paul II who was so committed to young people and who had such a belief and confidence in them. Through this Award, young people from across the Diocese of Cloyne are enabled to take an active part in the life of their Church, in the life of their community and society and also become more aware of the teaching and role of the Catholic Church in the world. This enables young people to engage at a deep level with Christ, whose body the Church is. It allows young people to understand that religion and faith is not just for learning, nor is it a list of rules, but that it is for living. On Wednesday night Bishop Crean will present 44 young people from Coláiste Mhuire in Buttevant, St. Aloysius’ College in Carrigtwohill, St. Mary’s Secondary School in Mallow and Presentation Secondary School in Mitchelstown will receive the Award. This is a fantastic achievement for these young people, their school and their parishes.
