The RCBOE settled this case against Charles Smith because they did not want to have to admit he was assaulting students, and pay gobs of money in settlements. That is the sad truth. As the late BOE trustee Johnnie Jackson was often quoted as saying, There are issues in black schools and relationships in our community that whites should have no part of. They simply do not understand we do things our own way... Former trustees Jeff Annis, Bill Lee, Cherie Foster, Ken Echols, and yep, Kinglsey Riley, have all said this was the mind set in the RC system for generations. Hopefully, things have changed.
