The Rebirth of Blyth Town Centre!!! Our MP and Leader of labour - TopicsExpress

The Rebirth of Blyth Town Centre!!! Our MP and Leader of labour group really need to give themselves a real good shake. They ( the labour group) destroyed the town centre, they have had two to three decades to get our Towns wards out of the highest deprivation status in the country and now jump on the bandwagon of a private company wanting to purchase West Gate house . The Labour group need to get around the table ( we elected them ), with all parties before making any rash decisions. This is how we rebuild our town centre , our market place and the 8 communities peripheral to such along WITH private companies as described. Malcom please ensure our MP / Leader reads this.Pretty simple reading. You( the Labour Group) must 1 get our Towns money back that the Labour Group have allowed (without any fight) to be taken from the land sales within the boundaries of our town. £50 million( tbc) since 2008/9 alone. Invest just 10% of this amount in our market square and we become the most visited market in NCC area AGAIN.Its the least the largest market town in Northumberland deserves . 2 Give us back the £1 million pounds the labour group allowed Arch ,this entity that not many understand( not even the CEO of BTC knows the set up ) to take from our market placerebirth to use to build an office block which stands 100 meters away from a purpose built office block ,designed for same use that has remained half to three quarter empty for 8 or more years !! 3 get our section 106 monies / assets that they failed to collect , collected. 4 get the £150 k they gave away to Berwick back, dedicated to our town centre / market place back . 5 instead of sending their labour group members around the area in luxury, costly limousines,(should employ our local taxi drivers at the going rate) hiring clowns ,comedians etc at extortionate rates/ entertaining twins from far away etc the thousands they will save from this alone will pay for minimum of two 24 hour staff to watch over our town centre/ keep our citizens safer through the 21 or so cameras WE paid for that are hardly ever worked. The list is not exhaustive We should welcome this private investor into our town with open arms , throw as much help at them as we can BUT we MUST be cautious in the fact that this one purchase / development / investment MUST fit into a well planned ,thought out , Blyth Town Centre master plan/ economic strategy, to return the market town we used to be / the attraction and vibrancy it brought for generations to come . I dont think neither our Leader Grant Davey or MP is thinking out the box here ! What type of housing / tenant will landlord bring to this building? What type of shops will be brought in etc etc. I appreciate beggars cannot be choosers but we must not let an exciting opportunity worsen our condition. ( just look at the thought going into Ashington / Cramlington, the consultations being offered. We ask for the same) They need to sit down with the developer, consult the community , the town council , the businesses and agree a clear , planned , phased strategy to ensure the rebirth of our Town, that should never be in this position , does happen .
