The Red Devils were in abundant numbers for the AGM of the Leagues - TopicsExpress

The Red Devils were in abundant numbers for the AGM of the Leagues Club which is now being promoted as the Mackay Devils. The Junior Devils were also in attendance and we congratulate Cameron on his election to the Board of Directors. Colin Hills, in an act of integrity, offered his resignation and withdrew from the election of Directors. He did so because he would not accept any Proxy votes being used. No matter how we argue with him at times, Hilly did the right thing and was not a party to collecting Proxy votes. Following questioning by President Greg Sutherland and past President Gordon Sutherland, it was acknowledged by the Manager of the Leagues Club and the Chairman of the Leagues Club after the financial report was read out, that Northern Suburbs RLFC has no debt owing to them. This is because Redcliffe forgave all debts of both bodies. Hopefully this clarifies any rumours that we owe anyone money. We are debt free. After Richard Calligan, who is a former Norths Treasurer and member of the Leagues Club, questioned the solicitor present about any specific information regarding Proxy votes in the Constitution and it was found there was none, Greg Sutherland, Adam Doull, Neil Seden and Corey Vaughan also withdrew their nominations. The ethics of the Leagues club was brought to question due to the allowing of staff to vote on who their bosses would be, staff running Bingo on wages, the use of the Courtesy Bus to transport Directors supporters to the AGM and also handing out Proxy votes to members and filling them out after the person had signed them. The Treasurer of the Leagues Club admitted that this had occurred. No response was given. It was made obvious that the Leagues Club wants to sell Jack OBrien Park to get them out of debt. President Greg Sutherland said that is was fair enough provided that members be consulted and adequate funding was provided for relocation. When or where this might happen is still unknown as no further details were provided. Following the disrespect shown by certain staff to Members present that asked questions or made comments, and to other voluntary members of the Football Club it is highly unlikely that the Football Club members will be treated fairly by the Manager and certain staff. This was made obvious with patron and staff refusing to buy raffle tickets last week during our meat tray raffles. Due to this we will not be continuing our raffles at the Leagues Club. On a positive note we have no debt. There will be more players arriving next week and we will have a get together to welcome them and introduce them to everyone. We will also be having a Football Club meeting soon to make more preparations for the upcoming season. If you are interested in being on a Sub Committee please let me know and I will present it at the meeting. Most sponsors from this year are back with us and we have a few new ones. Gene Patterson who was the solicitor present at the AGM and is also the President of Brothers made us feel good when he said that we are in a far better financial position than Brothers are. Our main goal is working on our teams. Expect information on a new A Grade coach next week after the NRL Grand Final.
