The Red Lantern -------------------- It was fool moon – day. And I was weaving my little lantern When he arrived He was twice my age. And I was twelve. He invited me to watch a movie with him At his place The boy with no TV No access to Hollywood, How could he resist Such a visit So I kept the skeleton aside And obliged There we were In his room – on his bed – alone I, starry eyed staring at the action Mr. Jackie Chan beating the Bronx clan When suddenly He started to install ideas in my twelve year old head Ideas unpleasant – Alien to a little boy I could then see That this was a trap For he was resting His arm on my lap I moved away inch by inch He came at me With intentions of his Now I can feel the wind of his breath Gliding along my body And now he takes his shirt off The walls were tightening, Though I felt to scream My tongue was frightening I said “I want to go home” He said “No” I stood up to go Made my way to the door He grabbed me from behind And pressed against me tight. I felt my back thumping upon something, My structure went numb I couldn’t do anything And just about then Some familiar voice started calling my name. It was my mother, Looking for the boy That was to be making a lantern
