The Repentance of Israel in That Day And What it Will Mean for the World “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.” (Romans 11:25–27) The Apostle Paul was deeply grieved by the blindness of Israel in his generation. He saw their stubborn refusal to recognize Jesus as the Holy One of God and wished that he himself could be accursed if that would open their eyes. Yet he understood that their blindness was not permanent. Israels eyes will finally be opened during the tribulation. The prophet Zechariah tells us that They will look on Me, the One they have pierced, and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for Him as one grieves for a firstborn son” In that moment the Lord who will poured out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication will hear Israel cry out, calling upon His name, and He will hear them: He will say, It is my people: And they shall say, The LORD is my God.” (Zechariah 13:9) Today the church has lost its love for Christ. We are rich, increased with goods, and think we have need of nothing. As a result, we are poor, and wretched, and blind, we are good for nothing, we have lost our savor. We have nauseated the Lord. But soon Israels eyes shall be open and “... if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?” (Romans 11:15). At that day Israel will become the global beacon God intended her to be. From her “... the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14) Do not think for one moment that God will allow the wicked to prevail. It may look bleak at this point in history, but fear not, the dawn is about to break.
