The Royal London Society for Blind People would like to invite Old Deer parkrunners to the UK’s brand new exciting blindfold run, otherwise known as the charity challenge of the year! You. A friend. One blindfold. 10k. Interested? Where: Queen Elizabeth Park, London When: 10:00am, 2nd November 2014 Distance: Both a 5k and 10k route are offered One thing’s for sure – you’ve never run like this before. Push your limits so blind children can break through theirs. Here at RLSB we know one or two things about bravery. We’ve watched blind and partially sighted toddlers explore their world with all the courage of Bear Grylls, Lizzie Yarnold, and Sir Ranulph Fiennes put together! That’s why we’re introducing an event designed to prove to you that you’re a whole lot braver than you think. Think you can’t do it? We know you can. What’s more, by taking part you’ll be able to help even more blind children grow into awe-inspiring little adventurers. How does it work? This unique event works with runners working in pairs. One person is blindfolded and tethered to a sighted runner, who narrates the twists and turns of the track to make it round the 10k course. We also offer a 5k route. Everyone who takes part gets: - Training and Fundraising Pack - Souvenir t-shirt and medal - Updates in run-up to event - Invite to pre-event training Each pair gets: A blindfold and tether to practice guide running ***REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN*** Follow RLSBs Twitter at @RLSBCharity, and check out #BlindfoldRun for future updates. You can also join our Facebook Event here. Here at RLSB (Royal London Society for Blind People) we work with blind children and young people across London and the South East through a combination of training, independent living, creativity and sport. But there are 7000 blind and partially sighted children and young people in London and the South East and we want to make sure each and every one has the chance to reach their full potential and avoid the life of isolation which they face without the right support.
