The San Francisco Black Friday activist events, systematically described by the media as peaceful or mostly peaceful, carried a spirit of anything but peace. Listen to what these people are saying to other human beings - beings whom, by the way, they do not know, yet whose stories they purport to understand. Verbal abuse is not in peace. This is not the new civil rights movement. It is a bunch of people doing something, anything, to join something they perceive to be larger than themselves. But look at what they have joined and become. They have chosen to join - well, evil, really. This thing that is larger than themselves is not Good, or Truth, or Beauty. Its not noble. Its an empty brotherhood of people on a path towards ultimate schism and alienation. By contrast, the families who had gathered to watch the tree lighting ceremony (which this protest destroyed), were tapping in to something larger than themselves, too. They were participating in something that is big enough to include everyone with respect and love, open minds and hearts.
