The Society for the German Language just announced its top 10 Words of the Year for 2014. These words are chosen to represent important ideas, events and debates that took place in Germany in 2014. The majority are new words created this year, but which all Germans already understand due to their presence in the media. Howbout you, do you understand them all? 1. Lichtgrenze (border of light) 2. Schwarze Null (black zero) 3. Götzseidank (praise be to Götze) 4. Russlandversteher (person who understands Russia) 5. bahnsinnig (train-insane) 6. Willkommenskultur (welcome culture) 7. Social Freezing 8. Terror-Tourismus (terror tourism) 9. Freistoßspray (free kick spray = vanishing spray) 10.
