The Soldier at Christmas I return home here at Christmas. But not is all the same. I felt an eerie presence as I stepped off of the plane. Has everyone forgotten me? Have I been gone to long? Could it be theyve all moved on or am I thinking wrong. I walk into my old front door, a wintry christmas day . My family all sat round the tree. Im lost for words to say. But nobody acknowledges me, as I stand here by the door. My daughter doesnt see me here, my girl who I adore. Im no longer here in person as I died in foreign lands. Ive returned to see my wife and girl, today to hold their hands. Im only here in spirit and the fact that they dont know, breaks my heart in every way, I think I need to go. Then suddenly from across the way my daughters face lit up. I feel him mummy in the room. Daddys home with us. I see a tear fall from her eyes as mummy holds her close. I gently stroke her soft fine hair as I know its time to go. I love you both my sweethearts but unfortunately I cant stay. As heaven needs its angel back I only came to say.
