The South African Constitution is often lauded as the best in the world... yet like all oher liberal constitutions it does not go beyond the egotistic person, the person as ego, as a member of civil society; the individual apart from community, introverted, egotistic preoccupied with self interest. The Constitution fails to consider the person as a part of a community or society and society is made to appear as a hinderance to individual freedom. The only binding relationship between people our constitution recognises is that of private property through the property clause and this is of necessity elevating the right of theminority property owners and capitalist corporations to exclude from the abundance of resources of our land the vast majority who are propertyless.
