The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has - TopicsExpress

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. Isaiah 61:1-2 (NLT) The nursery rhyme about Humpty’s unfortunate fall teaches children at an early age, some events leave you broken beyond repair. Astounding resources, amazing science, affluent relationships; in some circumstances, all of those things combined can’t put Humpty back together again. Beyond the physical realm, relationships can suffer Humpty’s fate. A misspoken word, apathy, a thoughtless or calculated deed, can push the bond of relationship to the point of breaking. Sometimes leaving that connection irreparably damaged. I’ve seen bodies so broken they can no longer function in spite of the doctor’s best efforts. I’ve had favorite mementos broken in transit as I’ve moved. I’ve had friendships dissolve over misunderstandings. What’s the first course of action when you realize something is broken? If you’re like my husband, it’s to take the pieces and in frustration or sadness, throw them away. If you’re like me, it’s to look at the pieces, piece them together and formulate a plan to reconstruct the item. In my mind, there few things hot glue and duct tape can’t fix. Fixed things aren’t usually as pleasing as intact things. You’ve seen it, the car with red tape where the brake light used to be, the dress or pant hem with a staple holding it in place, the precious figurine’s delicate glaze glopped-up with glue; those things are put together but not quite as nice as they once were. If you’ve lived long enough, you have suffered loss as well. Loss is something we all share as human beings. If you find yourself holding a bunch of broken pieces that you can’t glue or tape back together into something workable, if you are alone clutching only the remnants of a broken relationship, if today doesn’t look like you thought it would when you planned it yesterday, I’ve got great news for you! There IS a King who can put things back together! Isaiah shares the message he received straight from God. God can fix the broken!! God, with loving mercy and grace, can restore the rubble of brokenness, heal the broken hearted, and comfort those whose only possession is loss. Not offended by your brokenness, God says, “COME!” God’s ability to restore goes beyond your ability to be broken. God is The King who can restore what you may have broken due to carelessness or rebellion. If you are broken, scoop up the pieces you have left and RUN! Run to a loving King who can put those pieces back together. If your brokenness leaves you unable to run, call out to Him. He’ll come to you! God hears the faintest whisper and responds to any cry for help. His repair shop never closes. His schedule is never over booked. God is never out of parts! Father, thank You for the open invitation to COME for restoration. Thank you for restoring my brokenness and replacing it with prosperity and joy! Teach me to accept your love and grace.
