The Statistics: She is registered with the American Paint Horse - TopicsExpress

The Statistics: She is registered with the American Paint Horse Association as Hanfull of Plastic (yes, I spelled it correctly), registration number 433475, foaled April, 1998, so she is 15 years old and stands a solid 15.2 hands, roughly 1200 pounds. She won Halter points in both APHA and PtHA and was a Futurity winner (the person we are looking for doesnt really care about that stuff, but will be proud of her for doing it anyway). Her sire is Jetarrific (Jetalito x Sweet Success) and her dam is Plastic Money (Master Card x ScribblesTwoSpot). The History: As with so many Paints, she spent the first three years of life in the halter arena and the majority of the rest of her days either pregnant or nursing a foal. She bounced around from home to home half a dozen times in her life and seriously needs her forever! She has mothered 7 foals!!!! and had her last foal in April of 2012, a wonderful colt who was a stamp of her in every way, looks and personality. The most laid back foal I have ever met and is also available for adoption! She was a fantastic mom but has so much more to offer than continuing to overpopulate the world of horses! She will NOT be sold to a breeding home! The Training: She danced in the halter arena so she has flawless ground manners, squares on cue, leads perfectly and trots in hand even with my 7 year old. She lunges nicely at all three gaits, but you will need a lot of praise and appreciation and a lunge whip because shes not going to expel any unnecessary energy without serious motivation! She loads in to any trailer, ramp or step up, straight load or slant, first or last, with another or alone and always arrives at her destination as the same horse you put in. Stands tied quietly, occasionally gets bored and will paw when tied. Nothing dreadful, isnt digging to China, just letting you know she is lonely and wants your attention. LOVES baths, LOVES to be clipped and primped and LOVES to be coated in paints and glitter. Definitely likes the bling, a sparkly halter, a rhinestone bridle, she likes to feel pretty, so unleash your inner child and you and Jessie will click! You can ride her English, western or bareback, in a halter with reins, a bitless bridle or a bit, she is always wonderful. No fancy training under saddle, kick to go, pull to stop. Usually behind the leg, but is exceptionally forgiving of monkeys, so she is a blessing in her own right. She has shoes on her fronts, she has been barefoot, but chips her feet up and is tender footed so I put shoes on her fronts and she does much better. She is excellent for the farrier and vet, takes her bi annual stabbings (due in May) and regular wormings like a big girl and is current on her dental (October 2013). In The Arena NOT Jessies happy place! She is going to take you one lap and then stand where she started and NOT want to move. I have worked with her and a crop and she is absolutely miserable! She hates the home arena. If you do not have direct access to trails or only want an arena horse, skip her! You two will be miserable! I am still going to get someone who asks if she can ride occasionally in the arena, the ONLY exception is a therapy home. She would do absolutely fantastic in a therapy program! She is a nurturing personality and has such excellent ground manners and, I think, she would enjoy a life of helping others. On The Trails Happy Jessie! You get two sides, either she is really happy and singing “Zippity Doo Dah” or she is channeling Eeyore, BUT she is always safe! She can ride alone or in a group, she will leave a group and return quietly, stands quietly for mounting from either side, from the ground or from a rock, she will lead, follow, and can pony or be ponied and doesnt mind other horses hiding under her tail. Non mareish and consistent in her behavior and trustworthy around any other horse. She is not spooky, dogs, wildlife, hikers, joggers, bikes, all the usual trail traffic has never been an issue. Trail terrain, mud, water, gravel, pavement, rocks, all of it is not an issue and she will always willingly cross anything. She has been to the beach and was a rock solid super star. Didnt climb in the water, but never freaked out, either. Was absolutely even keel and kept her riders safe. I would have trusted her with my 5 year old in a heart beat. She has been in two parades with more chaos than you can imagine and was a rock star for both riders and kept them completely safe! I have taken my 7 year old out on her on trails and she has returned him home safely. I would, absolutely, trust her with a beginner or your friend or husband on the trail. The Personality: Because of her past, she views humans in one of two ways, you are either her “staff,” which means you will not be cuddled and you will get the look of a Princess looking down on her subjects if you hug her without permission OR she loves you and calls you her stuffy, follows you everywhere, initiates hugs and wants to be involved in everything you are doing and throw in her thoughts on the matter when needed. She has met a lot of people since coming here and I have seen both sides and no consistency to her decisions. Doesnt prefer one gender or age group, its just a quirk she has. Shes also two sided in energy levels. She has been in two parades. In one, she was forward, perky, all out smiling through the entire parade. In the second she was head low, moving slow, no sparkle in her dance. Same with trails. Some days she is forward, head up, bounce in her step, singing to herself as she blazes the trails and other days she is slug in the mud, zero desire to do anything above a walk and greatly resembles Eeyore while she is plodding along. Its hit and miss and I do not feel that is Jessie being stubborn or disrespectful! I meet humans regularly who have no consistency in their energy level, so I dont judge Jessie. She ALWAYS maintains flawless ground manners and is always well behaved under saddle, so, since she cant talk and tell me what she is actually feeling, I appreciate the days she is up for trotting and cantering and love her equally on days she only wants to wander. In the paddock, she is happy to live alone and she is happy to be in a herd. She is WONDERFUL with fences! She wont even challenge a barricade of bailing twine! Doesnt chew on wood or lean on fences, she is awesome to house! Keeps her stall clean, keeps her hay clean, doesnt destroy anything, an absolute pleasure to care for. In the herd, she is usually at the bottom. I have put her in with other bottom dwellers and she still lands at the bottom. She was always an excellent mom and will take other young foals under her wing and raise them. Shes not much for straightening out the yearlings or older, but she will protect a weanling and teach an orphan how to be a horse. The Flaw: Just that, at this time, there is no consistency to her energy level. I have no consistency to mine, either, so I have no place to judge, but if anyone was going to complain, thats usually what they will pick on. Additionally, she has bounced from home to home, how much energy would you put out if you were just waiting to be bounced again? The Diet: She is an easy keeper and is eating Orchard/ Alfalfa hay twice a day with a midday feeding of stable mix, beet pulp and supplements of ProBios probiotics, electrolytes, AniMed Ulc-R-Aid and a joint supplement called ActiFlex 4000. The joint stuff is a MUST as she does show some arthritis, but the rest is just precautionary and they are all on it. The Dream Human: Her forever is going to be one who sees her and their heart skips. They are going to see her and think she is the most beautifully marked, perfectly built, sweetest, most gentle horse they have ever met. They are going to be a “fly by the seat of their pants, go with the flow” personality who will be okay, on any given day, to slowly wander the trails today and who will be okay to go faster on other days, at Jessies decision. She seems to enjoy showing, so they might have an interest in showing either halter or schooling shows of western pleasure or English pleasure, but she will need work before she does that route. Mostly trail riding to condition for shows and arena work only to warm up at the shows, kind of thing, if they are going to show. She LIKES to be the center of attention. The Price: She is firmly priced at $1200 and comes with her halter, lead rope and a month of her joint juice. If you intend to maintain her on the supplements she is on, I will include a ten day supply of the supplements so you can order them and not have a lapse in days.
