The Steamer DELTA QUEEN, built with the most exotic woods above the hull, was tied up after politicians failed to extend her exemption for the SOLAS Act, but recently the US House passed a bill to allow her to regain the exemption. The bill is presently awaiting Senate approval and President Obamas signature. Meanwhile, a group of investors are working to buy, restore, and bring the DELTA QUEEN back to the Mississippi River and tributaries as an overnight passenger-carrying vessel with Cincinnati, Ohio as her home port as it was originally after the DELTA QUEEN was brought around, by water, from Sacramento, California to New Orleans. In Cincinnati, presently, the prestigious Cincinnati Preservation Association (CPA) is sponsoring a Facebook contest to determine the Top 50 Historic Building or Sites. The QUEEN is currently in Second Place with Voting going on through April 30th. Winning this contest would accomplish two goals: 1. Excitement and Support will be generated for the DELTA QUEEN, and, 2. Winning this contest would show the citizens of Cincinnati that the DELTA QUEEN has the friendship and support of enthusiasts from near and far. So, please ...
