The Supreme Court order on 23 September 2013, on the much touted Aadhar scheme (or the UID scheme) launched by the UPA 2 government in September 2010 comes as a respite to many citizens, who have not been able to procure the Aadhar card and were denied services and subsidies ( bank accounts, cash direct transfer schemes, PPF, cooking gas connections, etc) that were linked to the card. The court held that the Aadhar card is not mandatory to avail benefits of welfare schemes of the government and should be issued to only those with proven Indian nationality. What is your take on the Aadhaar card? Have you got yourself one yet?
