The Thomas Hughes House in Jefferson...,Another Greene County - TopicsExpress

The Thomas Hughes House in Jefferson...,Another Greene County historic treasure from which the public has been excluded. No offense to the person whose bid of $54,000 has been accepted (he has done NOTHING wrong here), but it seems like the $700,000 of public (state) money put into this building should have made it a priority to keep this treasure open to the public, especially when Jefferson Borough has no municipal office and had asked for that building. The secretary, as far as I know, keeps the records in her home. Recall former secretary Cindy Walters who stole upwards of $200,000? She kept her records at home too and refused to release them when I asked. No public repository for public documents or business lends itself to that sort of thing, but GreeneSpeak is not accusing the current secretary of anything, so dont go there LOL. Anyhow the commissioners say they couldnt give it to the borough because their hands were tied by state law which mandated they put it out to public bid first. I will tell you more when my Public Information Request on this topic is filled. In the meantime, join me in noting that YOU THE TAXPAYER is once again left holding the (empty) bag.
