The Townsville Local Disaster Management Group met today to assess the impact of this morning’s king tide. TLDMG Chair, Mayor Jenny Hill, said the city had fared well. “The inundation from the king tide this morning is a good indication of what we can expect tomorrow based on the current forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology,” Cr Hill said. “There was only slightly more inundation than what we would usually see in a king tide. “People remained in their homes and there was no need for evacuations. One evacuation centre will open for the king tide on Friday morning. That will be the AIMS building for the residents of Cungulla.
