The Tree Who Testified The Prophet, peace be upon him, and his honorable companions used to call people to Islam. One day as the Prophet and his companions were traveling, they saw a Bedouin traveling on the same road as them. When the Bedouin drew close to the Prophet’s caravan, the Prophet, peace be upon him, approached him to speak to him. The companions followed close behind. The Bedouin felt the Prophet near him so he turned to face the Prophet. Then the Honorable Prophet asked him, “Where are you going?” The Bedouinreplied, “To my family.” Our beloved Prophet wanted to guide this blasphemer Bedouin to the light of Islam. So the Prophet said, “Do you want to know something that is good?”The Bedouin asked, “What is it?”The Prophet told the Bedouin, “Testify that no one is God except Allah with no partners to Him and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” After these jeweled words came out of the mouth of the honorable Prophet the Bedouin asked if there was someone who would testify to what the Prophet said. The Prophet, peace be upon him, pointed to a tree deep in the valley and said, “This tree.” Then the Prophet called the tree to come by the Will of Allah and it did. It left its place in the valley because the Prophet called to it. The Bedouin was surprised to see that a silent, non-moving tree would testify to the truthfulness of the Prophet. The faithful companions and the surprised Bedouin saw the tree move from its spot, tearing the ground with it as it headed towards the Prophet. Its roots unearthed the soil but its path remained clear. The tree reached the Prophet and stood in front of him. Bedouin could do nothing but stare at the tree in awe. Then the Prophet addressed the tree and asked, “Who am I?” The tree replied in eloquent Arabic, “I testify that you are the Prophet of Allah.” All those who were present heard the tree’s tesitification. Then the Prophet asked the same question a second time. The tree replied with the same reply. The Prophet asked a third time and again the tree replied with the same reply. This event was a great and awesome miracle for the honorable Prophet. The tree testified and supported the Prophet by the Will of Allah. Allah is the One who makes His Prophet victorious. After the tree testified, it went back to its place in the valley by the Will of Allah. Once the Bedouin saw this unusual sight he knew the Prophet’s call was truthful. He said, “I testify that no one is God except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.” Then he said to the Prophet, “I am going to return to my people and call them to Islam. If they follow me then I will bring them and come back to you. If they do not listen to what I call them to, then I will return by myself and stay with you.”
