The UK Independence Party has won its first South Tyneside Council seat at the polls. After a night of drama, including a recount, UKIP candidate Norman Hanson Dennis has been elected to represent the Westoe ward on South Tyneside Council. The ward’s 6,276 electors went to the polls yesterday in a by-election following the death of independent councillor Jane McBride earlier in the year. ukipleeds.org.uk ukipleeds.org.uk/join.html
