The UK unemployment rate has fallen to 6pc for September, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The data from the ONS revealed that in August unemployment was 6.2pc, and was forecast to be 6.1pc for September. The CNBC UK business editor Helia Ebrahimi says the figure is similar to the average unemployment rate before the financial crisis in 2008, which came in at around 5.7pc. Ebrahimi refers to previous guidance from Bank of England governor Mark Carney on working towards an unemployment rate of under 7pc.
